Nevada is making public the names of people and businesses awarded recreational marijuana business permits for the state’s booming MJ industry.
As Gov. Steve Sisolak signed what he called a transparency law, the state Department of Taxation posted to its website what it said are roughly 10,400 documents that include the names of winners and losers for adult-use business licenses in Nevada.
Within those pages are 8,900 names of applicants for those licenses in the state. The documents include a list of current licensees and their owners and officers.
The transparency issue came to a head late last year after the state awarded 61 provisional recreational retail marijuana licenses but didn’t disclose the winners’ names.
A lion’s share of the licenses went to a handful of companies.
The state is facing multiple lawsuits from rejected companies that want a do-over.
