Michigan regulators said they would begin accepting adult-use cannabis business license applications as early as September, nearly three months before the statutory deadline.
They did not, however, give a timeline for issuing licenses or starting sales, according to MLive.com.
The regulator comments came as Michigan transferred marijuana licensing from a board to state staff, per a previous executive order by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
The new Marijuana Regulatory Agency will oversee licensing for medical and recreational marijuana.
